Bio-remodelling vs PRP vs PRF

At Mapp Aesthetics, your journey starts with a thorough consultation to ensure it's the right fit for your skin goals.

PRP vs PRF

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) are both treatments that use your own body’s platelets from your blood, however there are a few key differences between PRP and PRF

PRP:

  1. The blood is spun at higher speeds eg 2900rpm for 4 minutes in the T-lab centrifuge to separate the plasma layer which is rich in platelets
  2. Contains a 5x concentrated volume of platelets
  3. Platelets release growth factors quickly
  4. Injection technique involves using a small needle 4mm long, injecting the PRP all over the face, neck and/or hair. The remaining PRP is then skin needled on top for further rejuvination
  5. Downtime: pink/red skin which lasts for a few hours, possible bruising, and swelling
  6. Benefits: skin rejuvination, reduce pigmentation by brightening the skin, improve skin texture and shrink pore size, minimise fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production, tighten the skin, hair growth, reduction of hair shedding
  7. The blood collection vial contains an anticoagulant which is a medication that keeps the blood thin, preventing it from clotting and allowing the PRP to be injected within 40-60 minutes
  8. The anticoagulant which creates a mild stinging sensation when PRP is injected to the face can make this procedure uncomfortable, therefore numbing cream is used prior to treatment to make it more comfortable
  9. Volume of PRP produced is 7-10mls from 2 vials of blood collected
  10. The entire procedure takes 45-60 minutes to complete

PRF:

  1. The blood is spun at lower speed eg. 2000rpm for 4 minutes in the T-lab centrifuge in order to retain the fibrin matrix which acts as a scaffold to support new cell growth
  2. Contains a 10x higher concentration of platelets, white blood cells, stem cells and fibrin matrix
  3. Growth factors are released slowly due to the fibrin matrix creating longer lasting results
  4. Injection technique involves using a canula, which is a long blunt needle, injected into focus areas such as the under eyes or nasolabial folds to build volume in these areas overtime through the stimulation of skin regeneration. PRF can also be injected like PRP however less volume of PRF is produced and may require more vials to be collected

Downtime: under eye swelling for 1-3 days, redness under the eyes or nasolabial folds, possible bruising at injection site

  1. Benefits: improve under eye hollowing and darkness by building collagen under the eyes, stimulate hair growth and reduce hair shedding, soften deep lines and wrinkles, overall skin rejuvination
  2. the blood collection vial is empty meaning there are no preservatives in the vial, it is purely your own blood. This makes it prone to clotting, meaning the PRF needs to be injected within 15-20minutes before it is no longer viable due to clotting
  3. The procedure is generally comfortable as a blunt needle is used. Numbing cream is not required as the pain level is very low for this procedure but it can be requested
  4. Volume of PRF is 3-6mls from 2 vials of blood collected

The entire procedure takes 30 minutes to complete

Bioremodellers: The Next Generation of Skin Rejuvenation

If you’ve been exploring non-surgical options for rejuvenating your skin, you may have come across the term bio-remodelling. Unlike traditional cosmetic treatments, bioremodelling works with your skin’s natural biology to hydrate, remodel, and restore your skin from within.

What Are Bio-remodelling?

Bio remodelling are an innovative type of treatment designed to improve skin quality and stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastic, two essential components that give your skin structure, elasticity, and youthful bounce.

Rather than adding volume, bioremodellers work by improving the overall texture, tone, and hydration of the skin, resulting in a more youthful and radiant appearance.

Meet the Product:

The product we use is one of the most well-known bio-remodelling on the market. It contains one of the highest concentrations of pure (HA), a substance naturally found in our skin that helps retain moisture and plumpness.

But what sets this product apart is its unique formulation. Using a patented technology, it combines high and low molecular weight HA, allowing it to spread evenly under the skin and stimulate tissue regeneration at a cellular level.

Key Benefits of the Product we use:

✅

Intense hydration – especially for dry, crepey or mature skin

✅

Improved firmness and elasticity

✅

Smoother, more radiant skin

✅

Natural-looking results with no added volume

✅

Minimal downtime – quick and simple procedure

What Areas Can Be Treated?

This product is most commonly used on the face, but it can also rejuvenate other areas, including the:

  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Arms
  • Abdomen

This makes it a versatile option for clients wanting a comprehensive approach to skin ageing.

The Treatment Process

At Mapp Aesthetics, your  journey starts with a thorough consultation to ensure it's the right fit for your skin goals.

The procedure itself involves a series of injections at specific points under the skin. Most clients require two treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, with maintenance treatments recommended every 6-12 months.

Discomfort is minimal, and side effects are usually limited to mild swelling or redness at the injection sites for 24–48 hours.

Who Is it used For?

The bio-remodelling is ideal for:

  • Men and women aged 30+
  • Those experiencing early signs of skin ageing
  • Clients wanting glow, firmness, and hydration without adding volume
  • Anyone seeking a more natural and regenerative approach to skin care

Bioremodelling vs. Volumising treatments: What's the Difference?

While volume treatments to specific areas (like cheeks or lips) restore volume.  Think of it as improving the canvas of your skin itself rather than reshaping your features. It’s a complementary treatment rather than a replacement and can work beautifully alongside cosmetic treatments, PRP, or microneedling.

Bioremodelling treatments  are transforming the way we approach skin ageing. With natural, regenerative effects and subtle but powerful results, it’s no wonder this treatment is gaining popularity among both practitioners and clients alike.
